Selma Cotton
We cut off a branch of a cotton plant one day, which I used as a reference to paint this. My grandfather ended up in Selma, AL, over 100 years ago when he was buying cotton for England. So Selma and cotton will forever be tied together in my mind.
11x14, $135, watercolor

White Iris
This one is one I did from the first iris of spring after a long winter full of many traumatic changes. I was feeling hopeful and at peace with the changes when this iris bloomed while it was still cold and dreary out. I brought it inside and drew it, then added color. Watercolor and colored pencil, 11x14. $75 matted and ready for a frame.

Plein Air Purple Iris
I painted this one with some friends (and with my mom) on a plein air trip in Huntsville, AL. These irises were gorgeous! My painting doesn't do them justice. 8x10" matted size. $45.

Autumn Wreath
I did this small painting last year when we first moved into a much smaller house than the one we were in. I was sad about having to put most of our things into storage, and decided to create a wreath for the front door for some color and cheer. Then I painted it! Matted 8"x10", $45.

Oakleaf Hydrangea
This one is on Aquaboard and it's 5"x5". The surface of these board is very bumpy and they absorb watercolors- exactly the opposite of the clayboards. $45 unframed.

Busy Bee
I have a friend who loves beekeeping. She's asked me to paint bees for a while, now, and I finally got a good photo to use as a reference. This was painted on a 6"x6" square of clayboard, which is very slick. It's fun, but it doesn't behave like watercolor paper!

Apalachicola Heron
Last May I traveled with several friends to the coast of Florida for an international plein air event. We who traveled together weren't part of the participating artists- we went to watch them paint! It was a GREAT time of fun and fellowship, and we got to see some fantastic artists do wonderful things with their craft. I also took a ton of photos, and this painting is from one of those photos taken at a marina down there.

Orange Daylily
This was painted as part of a 12x12 challenge. I didn't have square mats but found 12x12 square frames, so I just drew the square within the 12x12 to make it look like a mat. Fun!

Another dog portrait
This was actually the first dog portrait I did- I finished him last summer but was not doing a good job keeping up with my blog. I'm trying to do better about that!

My first solo art show!
What a busy time. I'm excited to be getting ready for my first solo show at Women's Hope Medical Clinic. They have a great space that needs attention, and I needed a location. I love this ministry and will be donating a portion of my proceeds to support them. Please come!

Paintings 3 and 4 of the 30 in 30 Challenge
I'm running a little behind, but still doing better than I did in the last challenge! :-)
This is Busy Bee, 6x6, watercolor on clayboard. $45 unframed. I like how it looks from a distance. Close up it looks fragmented, but when you step away a few steps suddenly it's almost 3D! I like it.
Here's the dog portrait I finished over the weekend:
I'm still frustrated with the Blogpress app. I can't figure out a way to add html with an ipad app. Oh, well!

Day 2/30: "His Highness"
I love this rooster's puffed up chest! His comb reminds me of a crown, so his name immediately became "His Highness". This is painted with watercolor on a 6"x6" Clayboard panel.
BlogPress for ipad is not letting me insert a paypal button. It's challenging figuring out all the eccentricities of the various apps! Anyway, it's $45 unframed and $65 framed, plus shipping. Email me if you'd like it and I'll send you a Paypal invoice.

First painting in the 30 day challenge
I've got the first painting done in Leslie Saeta's 30 paintings in 30 days challenge. :-) I LOVE roosters and they are fun to paint.
Any ideas for a name for him?
